The process begins with a complimentary design appointment where we take you through the four C’s of Diamond education, and show you some examples of what that means in a practical sense so you can see the differences in each Diamond. This gives you the confidence to make an informed decision on buying the best diamond for you.
At Bill Hicks Jewellery all our designers are qualified gemologists and will guide you through the design process making it a fun and informative experience.
Our experienced jewellery designer will then sketch up a design for you so that you can see your vision come to life. We usually ask a few questions about her lifestyle, and her personal taste in jewellery, and if she has given you any hints about what she might like then we can incorporate those elements into a beautiful hand rendered sketch so you can envisage both the actual size and the finer details of your ring.
We also take into consideration any budget or time constraints you may have, and work with you to get the best possible value for your design, without sacrificing the quality of the workmanship. Once you are satisfied with both the design and your selection of diamonds, then the handmade process begins.
When making a bespoke diamond engagement ring we ensure every detail is refined and handmade to precise measurements with the highest quality alloys. Our master jewellers make the precious metal alloy, and then the metal is rolled and work hardened to ensure durability. The ring is then sculpted from the solid metal, claws are shaped using drawn down fine wire, and details etched out by hand. Once the ring is assembled, our setters then take great care in setting each stone under a microscope, then the entire piece is finished to the highest polish.
