Long treasured as a gift from the sun, citrine is also known as gold topaz and Madeira or Spanish Topaz. Its name refers to the colour of a lemon, “citron” in French, though the most sought after stones are a clear, radiant yellowish to brownish red. Citrine is a member of the larger quartz family and is found primarily in Brazil and also in Mexico, Canada, the United States, France, Russia and Madagascar.
