Opals are more delicate than many other gems like diamonds and sapphires.
- For this reason we would not recommend wearing opal jewellery every day. Knocking or scratching should be avoided and we recommend you remove opal jewellery when playing sport, gardening or performing household tasks.
- Avoid exposing your opal jewellery to sudden changes of temperature, so remove before showering, having a bath or immersing your hands in hot water.
- Apply perfumes, colognes and toiletries before you put your opal jewellery on.
- To clean the surfaces of an opal rub it softly with a tissue or piece of silk. Do not use household cleaners or detergents, or an ultrasonic cleaner.
