He was also invited to become a member of the highly prestigious De Beers Carat Club which gave Bill direct access to design and market trend information from around the world. In addition, membership of this elite club helped him form strong relationships with a number of leading overseas suppliers that continue to deliver real benefits to Bill's clientele to this day.

In 1998 Bill, with over 35 years of experience in the industry, founded Bill Hicks Jewellery Design, and in 2002 the late Melissa Coghlan, a former Australian manager for De Beers, joined as a business partner.

Today, operating from his upstairs design studio in King Street , Sydney , Bill continues to offer a highly personalised jewellery design and manufacturing service to his growing list of local and international clients.
